As storms hammer West Coast, state's response goes live

Check out this live cam of California's emergency operations center in Sacramento. The stream becomes available online when major disasters strike and the state needs to keep residents informed. Pounding rain in southern California is causing streets to flood, hillsides to give way and mud to hold up motorists.

Hundreds of homes have reportedly been evacuated. The Los Angeles Times earlier today posted a remarkable photo of floodwaters raging around a half-submerged Porsche. The storm is expected to ease by tonight.
