From 2004 through 2008, almost half of the graduates from California's public high schools enrolled in a state university or community college.

It makes more sense to go to public college after how much the cost has risen in last few years. Some people going to other colleges now have bills that will take years to pay off and figure out that it would have been better to go to cheaper public college to get same degree. If you go to local public college and do not need housing you could save so much money that you will be able to afford your own home after awhile instead of paying off college bills for years.
