FBI crime stats continue downward trend in 2008

Each year, the FBI produces a report of violent crimes, such as murder, rape and robbery, and property crimes, such as burglary and vehicle theft. According to the most recent report, the estimated number of violent crimes in the nation declined for the second year in a row. Property crimes also declined in 2008, marking the sixth-straight year these numbers have dropped. Explore information from thousands of cities across all 50 states and the District of Columbia, including hundreds of California communities. Because some agencies do not participate in the voluntary crime-reporting program, some cities are not included in this data.

That might be from tougher laws about repeat criminals. I wonder if they show stats before and after to see if they are serving longer prison terms so thier are less criminals out there.
