California Watch education reporter Joanna Lin will attend Finding Common Ground: What Common Core Standards Mean for English-Language Learners, Teachers and Tests. The daylong journalism seminar is hosted by the Education Writers Association, UC Berkeley, Stanford's Understanding Language Initiative and Policy Analysis for California Education. The seminar will look at changes in California's approach to working with English learners, focusing on what has been done in Florida, as well as local training efforts. State and district leaders also will be there to provide their perspective.
