California Watch researcher and reporter Kendall Taggart will attend the daylong The Once and Future City: Transformation in an Era of Financial Challenges event, which explores how cities negotiate limited financial resources and public expectations of services. A series of panels will address the potential privatization of public operations, the sustainability of public facilities and services, pension programs and public employee unions, among other topics. The event is organized by the Municipal Law Institute of the League of California Cities and Stanford Law School. Advance registration is $150 and can be completed here.
