In a July letter, Reps. Henry Waxman, D-Los Angeles, and Fortney “Pete” Stark, D-Fremont, asked for a federal investigation of alleged Medicare fraud at Prime Healthcare.

In May, a state attorney general’s official told the SEIU that its complaint about Prime Healthcare had been referred to a Health Care Fraud Task Force.

State Sen. Elaine Alquist, D-San Jose, wants the state to stop licensing Prime hospitals until the dispute over septicemia billings is resolved.
 

Assemblyman William Monning, D-Santa Cruz, also urged a state moratorium on licensing Prime hospitals.
