Ashley Alvarado, public engagement manager for California Watch, will attend this community meeting and workshop aimed at gathering input for updating Coachella's General Plan and building healthier communities within the city, where some residents face environmental health hazards and suffer high rates of sickness. The workshop will be in both English and Spanish and is held in partnership with The California Endowment's Building Health Communities, Consejo de Federaciones Mexicanas en Norteamérica and other groups. Dinner and child care will be provided. 

Michael Corey, digital innovations editor for California Watch and the Center for Investigative Reporting, will teach four classes over the course of three days at the annual Computer-Assisted Reporting Conference put on by Investigative Reporters & Editors and one of its programs, the National Institute for Computer-Assisted Reporting. Corey will lead classes on map projections, map graphics for video and Quantum GIS.

Chase Davis, director of technology for California Watch and the Center for Investigative Reporting and also a money and politics reporter, will speak at the conference during NewsCamp, a workshop on forming stories based on information in alternative and sometimes inconvenient forms.
