The Project on Student Debt
The Project on Student Debt has a user-friendly tool to explore average student debt levels, the percentage of students with debt and the percentage of low-income students for all public and many private institutions in each state.

U.S. Department of Education
The department provides customized reports on campus crime data. It is good for downloading data files to compare multiple campuses at once or for comparing California universities with those in other states. Most reports produce three years of data. Data since 2001 can be downloaded for one category of crime at a time.

The California Postsecondary Education Commission
The commission has maintained more than 1,200 publications on California colleges and universities since 1965. This site includes historical reports on state appropriations, tuition and fees, eligibility for UC and CSU admittance, campus facilities, and much more. It also provides an index of data to explore quick data tables or create custom data sets on a variety of topics, including transfer rates, college-going rates, enrollment and more. The commission also provides statewide data on crime statistics and makes it a little easier than the federal tool to see data collected before 2005. This tool is limited to California, however, and does not allow downloads as easily.

College Navigator is a user-friendly starting point to get a quick snapshot of data on any public or private college or university, including crime statistics. It is part of the National Center for Education Statistics.
