Stephanie Rice
Bio
Stephanie Rice works as a copy editor and reporter for California Watch and the Center for Investigative Reporting. She is a freelance reporter based in San Francisco, where she has covered a college financial scandal that led to criminal charges, bizarre legal battles between Alameda residents and building inspectors, city workers partying with prostitutes on the taxpayer dime and much more. In addition to covering the Bay Area, Stephanie has reported from Egypt, Israel, Turkey and Sri Lanka. Stories include the struggle for a free press in post-Mubarak Egypt and the plight of disabled children in Sri Lanka. Her work has appeared in The Christian Science Monitor, San Francisco Chronicle, Agence France-Presse, GlobalPost, The Bay Citizen, East Bay Express and others. In addition to spending seven months in Cairo in 2008, Stephanie was a GlobalPost/Open Hands reporting fellow in Egypt's capital city in October 2011.
